Hartford Homes was honoured to welcome His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor, Sir John Lorimer, and Lady Lorimer for a private tour of The Bay Queen development in Port St Mary this week.

Julie Jones (Sales and Lettings Manager at Hartford Homes), alongside Keith Featherstone and John McLoughlin, guided Their Excellencies through the landmark building as the final stages of construction progress.

The visit provided an opportunity to showcase the quality of the build and the stunning sea views from the new apartments.

A spokesperson from Government House commented on the visit:

‘His Excellency and Lady Lorimer were delighted to visit Hartford Homes’ new development… The redevelopment of the Bay Queen site has made a significant addition to the Port St Mary skyline. With fantastic sea views to be enjoyed (even on a gloomy autumnal day!), it was great to visit this wonderful project. Thank you to the Hartford Homes team for the visit.’

A New Chapter for Her Majesty

The Bay Queen has long been a feature of the Port St Mary skyline. Originally opened as the Ballaqueeney Hotel, it became the Balqueen Hydro after a visit by King George VI and Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. By the 1950s, it was one of the premier resort hotels in the British Isles.

From design to build, Hartford Homes’ vision has been to honour this rich history. The redevelopment retains the building’s iconic Art Deco styling, reintroducing the famous horizon-dominating ‘twin towers’, while creating a collection of 23 luxury apartments and two exceptional penthouses on the Isle of Man. Residents will also enjoy access to exclusive amenities, including a private club lounge and gym.

For those seeking exceptional property for sale on the Isle of Man, The Bay Queen has set a new standard for coastal living, combining historical elegance with modern comfort and convenience. We are immensely proud of what our team and local partners have created.
