The final phase of the impressive new roundabout on Cooil Road in Braddan has been completed, with contractors working through the night to minimize disruption.

Contracting for Eden Park Developments, local developer Hartford Homes worked around the clock for three weeks to deliver the new junction on schedule.

Hartford Homes director James Greenhalgh said: “This second phase was completed during a series of overnight shifts in order to cause minimum disruption and has involved final tarmac laying, improved bus stop and lay-by facilities.”

The £1m project, which also included drainage and lighting improvements to Cooil Road, was privately funded by Eden Park Developments and took 16 weeks in total to complete.

James added: "This wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the DOI and our excellent sub-contractors, with special thanks to Derek Clarkson and Bruce Forsyth of CCJ Ltd and Colas.

“We would also like to thank the public for their patience during the development.”

The roundabout will soon serve the new Jacksons and Motor Mall multi-car showroom complex currently being built at Eden Business Park by Hartford Homes.

Construction at the 6.8 acres site adjoining Cooil Road is due for completion towards the end of 2017/early 2018, with individual buildings being handed over as and when ready.

The £14.5m development consists of two showrooms and an after-sales building containing 18 vehicle service bays and a car valet facility.
